Sassafras has a growing network of individuals that are interested in helping you grow. We provide a mechanism for the citizens of Portland to invest in Portland. The goal: Revive our local economy from the ground up by creating connections between community members and businesses. We are constantly consuming, so why not invest in the businesses where we are spending our money? We need them and they need us.

This is a new (old)  model that localizes investments, so people can improve their community with direct investments in the businesses and infrastructure that help their community thrive. This is not a non-profit charity model. This is local people investing in local businesses in a way that allows everyone to build wealth.

Investments are geared towards businesses that use a triple bottom line approach that balances people, planet and profit; create much needed jobs in the neighborhoods where people live; and add economic vitality along Portland’s urban main streets.
